Answers to common questions to help you feel
confident and prepared for your experience.
Appointments & Policies
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
I understand that illness, emergencies, and unexpected circumstances can happen. At the same time, your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you and is often difficult to fill on short notice.
At least 48 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged 50% of the scheduled service. Same-day cancellations and no-shows will be charged 100% of the scheduled service. Any applicable card-processing fees charged through the booking system will also apply.
By booking an appointment with Envy Skin Studio, you acknowledge and agree to these policies.
What happens if I'm late?
Please call or text if you are running late. Appointments still end at their originally scheduled time, so arriving late will reduce the amount of time available for your service. Depending on the service and how late you arrive, the appointment may need to be rescheduled. If the appointment cannot be completed because of a late arrival, the applicable cancellation fee may apply.
Why is a credit card required when booking?
A valid credit card is securely kept on file through the booking system when you reserve an appointment. Most services are not charged at the time of booking unless a deposit is specifically required. At your appointment, you may use the card on file or choose another accepted payment method.
By booking with Envy Skin Studio, you also authorize the card on file to be charged for any applicable late-cancellation or no-show fees outlined in the cancellation policy.
What is the best way to reach you?
Texting is the best way to reach me. Because I am usually with clients during the day, I am often unable to answer phone calls. Some evenings I also finish too late to return calls at an appropriate time. Calls and emails are welcome, but texting will usually receive the quickest response.
Facials & Home Care
What should I book if I'm not sure which facial is right for me?
If you're unsure which facial to choose, book the Tailored Facial. It is customized to your skin, your concerns, and what your skin needs at the time of your appointment.
How often should I receive a facial?
As a general rule, every 4–6 weeks is ideal for maintaining your skin and addressing concerns consistently. That said, the right schedule also depends on your skin, your goals, your budget, and what realistically fits your life. Some clients come monthly, while others come every two months or once a quarter. Ultimately, the best schedule is the one that works for you.
Will I be expected to purchase skincare products?
No. What you use at home has the greatest influence on your skin over time. Professional treatments can help, but long-term skin health and meaningful improvement are largely shaped by the care your skin receives consistently between appointments.
That said, I do not require product purchases or expect clients to commit to a certain retail budget. Everyone comes in for a different reason. Some clients want help building a complete home-care routine, while others already love the products they use. Some simply want an hour to themselves or enjoy treating themselves to something special.
You should be able to enjoy your facial without feeling pressured to purchase skincare products afterward. Whether it's because you already have products you enjoy using, aren't looking to change your routine, or they aren't in the budget right now, whatever the reason, the decision is entirely yours. After all, the best skincare products are the ones you'll actually use consistently.
If you want product recommendations or help creating a routine, just let me know. If you would rather simply enjoy your treatment, that is completely fine too. You are welcome to let me know how much guidance you want.
Microneedling
What should I know before microneedling?
You cannot receive microneedling if the treatment area has:
- A sunburn or recent tan
- Open, broken, or irritated skin
- An active rash, infection, cold sore, or inflammatory skin flare
- Painful, inflamed, or pus-filled acne
Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs, waxing, and other irritating treatments for five days before your appointment.
You cannot receive microneedling within 14 days of Botox, dermal filler, cosmetic threads, a chemical peel, another microneedling treatment, laser treatment, or another professional resurfacing treatment in the same area.
After facial surgery, you must be fully healed and cleared by your surgeon before receiving microneedling.
Who cannot receive microneedling?
Microneedling is not appropriate if you:
- Are pregnant or nursing
- Are currently receiving chemotherapy or radiation
- Have uncontrolled diabetes
- Have a significantly weakened or suppressed immune system
- Have hemophilia or another serious bleeding disorder
- Have a known stainless-steel allergy
- Have taken Accutane or isotretinoin within the past two years
What should I expect after microneedling?
Your skin may appear pink or light red and may feel tight or more sensitive than usual after treatment.
For five days after treatment:
- Avoid retinol, tretinoin, exfoliating acids, benzoyl peroxide, scrubs, and other strong active products.
- Use gentle skincare and any post-treatment products provided or recommended during your appointment.
- Do not rub, pick, scrub, or exfoliate any dryness or flaking.
For the first 24 hours:
- Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive sweating.
- Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, and very hot showers.
- Avoid direct sun exposure.
Resume your usual skincare products after five days.
Waxing
How long should the hair be before waxing?
Hair should be approximately ¼ inch long for the best results. Hair that is too short cannot be waxed effectively, while excessively long hair can make the service more uncomfortable. This usually means allowing about two to three weeks of growth after shaving, although individual growth rates vary.
Facial waxing and retinoids
If you are receiving any facial waxing, discontinue retinol, tretinoin, Differin (adapalene), and other topical retinoids for five days before your appointment, even if you do not apply them directly to the area being waxed.
Waxing cannot be performed anywhere on the body while taking Accutane or another oral isotretinoin medication, or for six months after stopping it.
What should I avoid after waxing?
For the first 24 hours after waxing, avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sweating, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, very hot showers, swimming, tanning, and direct sun exposure. Avoid tight clothing or unnecessary friction over freshly waxed areas, and do not use scrubs, exfoliating acids, retinoids, or other irritating products on the treated skin.
Mild redness or sensitivity can be normal immediately afterward. Avoid touching or picking at the area and allow the skin time to calm.
Once the skin has calmed, begin gentle exfoliation two to three times per week to help prevent ingrown hairs. Avoid aggressive scrubbing, and keep the area moisturized with a lightweight, non-irritating product.
